Praeclarus Pas Dosé 2018 – Best Sparkling Wine of Alto Adige for Falstaff

Tuesday, October 29 2024

The Falstaff magazine, one of the most renowned wine and gourmet publications in the German-speaking countries, has awarded the Praeclarus Pas Dosé 2018 as the best sparkling wine of Alto Adige in the Wine Guide Italy 2025. The award ceremony took place at the Hotel 2024 fair in Bolzano, where wine journalists Othmar Kiem and Simon Staffler handed the accolade to our cellar master, Philipp Zublasing.

With a score of 94 points, the Falstaff Wine Guide Italy 2025 rated the 2018 vintage of Praeclarus Pas Dosé as follows: vibrant straw yellow with light, golden reflections. On the nose, it reveals an elegant, subtle reduction with notes of flint, light fruits, apple, quince, and hints of hazelnut and salt. On the palate, it is fresh with delicate, fine bubbles; flavours of brioche, yeast, lightly toasted white bread, and candied citrus create a pleasant balance, with a long, fresh finish.

"We are incredibly proud of this success. Praeclarus is an important project for us, that embodies our commitment to producing sparkling wines of the highest quality. This award honours the passion and dedication of our team and motivates us to constantly refine our craft and develop the character of our sparkling wines", says Bernhard Leimegger, president of Kellerei St. Pauls.
